Everyone should know, there are many things to consider when you are building a pool- material used, budget for materials, how big the pool is going to be, etc. This article will provide some general questions you might want to ask a pool builder.

    1) What types of pool finishes do you offer?

There are generally 2 types of pool finishes: painted and plaster. It is always a good idea to go with painted because it will last longer than plaster. Painted pools have much better resistance to the elements(rain, sun, etc.)

    2) Can you show me examples of your work?

During your search for a pool builder, you should be looking for one that has a lot of great reviews. This is a good way to know if a pool builder will do a great job for you. It is important that your future pool builder has experience and reviews so you can be confident in the job they do.

    3) Do you offer custom options?

A lot of people want a custom-made pool because it may look better than other standard pools. A custom-made swimming pool provides unique pools with striking design elements that may not be found elsewhere.

    4) Does your company have any professional associations?

When you call a pool builder, be sure to inquire about their association. Some associations provide licensing and safety guidelines which can benefit you when you are getting your pool built. These associations also provide protection from unscrupulous pool builders. If you do not find a membership in the local association, try searching online because there may be one online.

    5) What type of warranty do you offer?

Make sure to ask for a written warranty that you can actually read. A pool builder must be able to provide a warranty for their work, so ask for one before you pay them. If they have an exceptional product, they have the right to charge for labor in order to keep that exceptional product going.

    6) How many years of experience do you have?

A senior (in experience), skilled worker is more knowledgeable and likely to provide a great finished product. If you have a budget of $2000-$5000, you would probably want to choose a pool builder that has at least 10 years of experience.

    7) How long will it take to build my pool?

You should be able to find the time frame on their website or in the ballpark for how long it should take them. Give yourself at least 6-8 weeks just in case they need to go somewhere else because of some other reason and need to reschedule.

    8) Do you have any references?

Check to see if the pool builder has any personal recommendations or clients. A good pool builder would make sure to have people that work with them and you can check if they have a testimonial or review on their website.

    9) What is your payment policy?

Ask what kind of payment policy they have for their services and how long they take before they receive payment. Do they have swimming pool financing?

    10) How do you handle problems that may arise?

Be sure to ask what the process is if there is a problem with your pool. You don’t want to be stuck with a pool that has problems because no one wants money wasted on such an unreliable product. Ask them how they handle their problems and how long it takes them to fix the issue.
